The Passion of Joan of Arc

Live Scoring with Faculty Lounge

A project that had been in Aguila's mind ever since watching Dreyer's 1928 film The Passion of Joan of Arc during his undergraduate at the Eastman School of Music. After hearing Faculty Lounge perform a live scoring of Nosferatu titled "Noiseferatu" during Halloween 2016, Aguila knew it was time for this project to finally come to fruition. Aguila quickly began to plan along with the arts collective aLma.MaddR to present this work in the Spring of 2017. Transforming South Pasadena Music Center and Conservatory into an immersive environment with aLma.MaddR, the audience was welcomed with interactive lighting. A scrim was placed between the performers and the audience, creating depth of interaction with visual and sonic elements for the audience.
